How does it work?

Charlotte Smiles has partnered with Insight Dental Institute (IDI) - an organization devoted to advancing the dental profession by teaching specialized techniques to licensed dentists.

Unique in its approach, Insight Dental Institute highlights using new technologies safely and predictably to increase patient comfort and improve treatment outcomes.

All attending dentists at IDI courses are licensed in the United States. They take part in lectures and hands-on workshops. Then, guided by experienced mentors they perform procedures on selected patients in a state-of-the-art facility. Before treating patients, the doctors familiarize themselves with the individual’s case and make a plan utilizing the expert advice of IDI’s faculty.

Dr. Frederick Joubert is a beloved Charlotte dentist at Arboretum Center for Dentistry with 30 years of experience. He founded IDI to share his techniques with colleagues, so they may perform dental procedures safely and confidently, utilizing the latest technology to benefit their patients.

Dr. Joubert’s passion for dentistry is superior.
He believes in patient comfort and informed consent, evaluating all cases thoroughly before accepting them into the program.

FAQs

What is the process to become a patient at Insight Dental Institute’s programs?

  1. It starts with your personal decision to participate. Send us your contact information with a brief description of your dental needs.

  2. We will contact you with a request for more information. In this request, we will ask health-related questions as well as past & current medical history. We will need to obtain records from previous and present healthcare providers, so be ready to sign a ‘records transfer’ form.

Dr. Joubert and Insight Dental Institute believe in treating the whole patient, not just isolating the teeth from the individual — countless unsuspecting conditions and diseases can affect healing, so we want to be prepared.

  3. After we receive all of your medical history and records, we will schedule a consultation appointment (FREE). We may need to obtain photos of your teeth, radiographs (x-rays), including a 3D CT scan if none exists. These will also be free of charge. Radiographic images allow the treating doctors to properly assess your situation and implement a plan. We will discuss sedation options, medications, expectations, etc. If implants are going to be placed we will go over the whole process as well as restoration needs.

  4. Once your records and radiographs are assessed and approved by Dr. Joubert, we will contact you to set a date and explain your treatment options. We hold multiple courses each year in the winter, spring, summer, and fall. We will go over appointment details, any pre-operative instructions, sedation directions if applicable, and what to expect following the procedure.

  5. Following your procedure, you will be seen at Arboretum Center for Dentistry for follow-ups and any restorative needs, as discussed in your pre-operative appointment.

Do you take insurance?

Charlotte Smiles is a non-profit organization that receives donations from major dental suppliers for surgeries (dental implants, materials, instruments, etc). This is what allows us to offer the procedures free of charge. Since we are not charging for the surgical portion of the treatment, we cannot bill your dental insurance company.

For the restoration process, we may be able to submit for reimbursement. We will go over the details during your pre-operative appointment due to the fact all dental insurance policies vary.

We do not accept Medicaid/Medicare.

What are the dates for 2024?

Upcoming courses: October 17-19, with some additional dates in Novemeber and December TBD.

Are there any hidden fees?

All surgeries, extractions, dental implants, etc are free of charge. We believe in educating all patients so they can advocate for their dental health. You will be explained all of your options before committing to or starting any dental treatment.
A deposit is required to book a surgery time at the courses to ensure ‘no shows’. For cases needing restorations on one or more implants, the cost of that restoration will be reduced to the laboratory fee to fabricate said restoration (60% off). You will receive a detailed breakdown after your pre-operative appointment.
